Jessa Black
Hello and welcome! I am a senior graphic designer with 8+ years of experience working with a diverse range of clients across various industries, with a major focus on CPG brands.
My design philosophy revolves around creating clean, modern designs that are both visually appealing and functional. I believe that great design should be able to communicate a message effectively, regardless of the medium or platform it’s presented on.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the pleasure of working with large commercial brands, small businesses, and everything in between. I take pride in bringing a fresh, millennial sensibility to consumer products and retailers, always striving to keep customers intrigued.
When I’m not designing, I enjoy making music, hiking, and taking staycations. These activities help me stay creative and inspired, allowing me to approach each project with a fresh perspective.
I’m excited to share my work with you and would love to hear more about how I can help bring your creative vision to life. Please feel free to reach out and connect with me!
xoxo,
Jessa Black
Brief background:
Senior Graphic Designer – Simply Good Foods (Atkins & Quest Nutrition)
I had the opportunity to bring fresh and innovative design concepts to the table. I created captivating banner ads, updated packaging designs, and played a key role in the successful rollout of the Atkins rebrand. With an eye for detail and a passion for creativity, I helped to make Atkins stand out to a younger audience.
Senior Graphic Designer (Contract) – Mindbody
I played a key role in designing compelling visual content across various channels, including social media, blogs, email campaigns, and event designs. My work helped increase engagement and drive traffic to the Mindbody platform. In addition to creating eye-catching banner ads and blog headers, I also designed email campaigns for various events, including product launches and promotional offers. These campaigns included event invitations, newsletters, and promotional emails that were sent to a vast audience. My designs for these events were praised for their attention to detail and ability to communicate the brand’s message effectively. Additionally, I collaborated with cross-functional teams to create event designs for Mindbody’s corporate events, including the Mindbody BOLD Conference.
TextNow – Graphic Designer
I was responsible for creating innovative and visually stunning presentations that helped drive the growth of this innovative communication platform. I had the opportunity to showcase my talents in presentation design and digital advertising. I was also tasked with designing and executing an ad campaign to be used on Tumblr, which required a deep understanding of the platform’s unique design requirements and audience preferences. Through my work at TextNow, I honed my skills in designing for the tech industry and gained a deeper appreciation for the power of design to drive product success.
Zevia – Senior Graphic Designer (Contract)
I was responsible for creating an exceptional visual experience for this popular beverage brand. I worked on a variety of exciting projects, including updating their packaging, designing website graphics, and developing digital designs that capture the brand’s essence. From the moment I joined the team, I dove into the Zevia culture and brought my expertise to the table, constantly pushing the boundaries of what was possible. Whether it was designing new product lines or creating stunning social media visuals, I always kept the brand’s goals in mind, ensuring that every design was crafted to perfection. I took pride in bringing a fresh perspective to the brand, helping them stay ahead of the curve and on-trend in the competitive beverage industry.
Ocean Spray – Social Media Designer (Contract)
I was responsible for creating the company’s seasonal social media content for the holidays. I developed engaging social media content and eye-catching graphics that helped spread holiday cheer and drive engagement across various platforms. I played an integral role in the rollout of their #BetterTogether holiday campaign, which I designed and implemented – that featured Jesse Tyler Ferguson and raised awareness for No Kid Hungry.
K-GLOSS – Senior Graphic Designer
I was brought on to tackle a unique challenge: taking a wildly popular Korean beauty brand and adapting it for American audiences. With my keen eye for design and my ability to tap into current trends, I was able to infuse K-GLOSS with an updated, fresh look while keeping their current branding intact. Through thoughtful design choices and a deep understanding of the beauty industry, I was able to create packaging, marketing materials, and social media content that reflected the brand’s history while also appealing to a new audience.
SLIMPEN + KULCBD – Freelance Graphic Designer
I had the incredible opportunity to be a part of building two exciting brands from the ground up. From conceptualizing and designing the brand identities, to overseeing all creative details and art direction, I had a hands-on role in bringing these brands to life. Working closely with the founders, I helped develop unique and engaging visual strategies that set the brands apart in their respective industries. It was an exhilarating experience to see these brands grow and thrive, and I’m proud to have played a key role in their success.
Winn-Dixie – Graphic Designer
I was hired on a 3-month contract and was given the exciting task of rebranding the deli and bakery departments. Through my creative vision and expertise, I successfully revitalized their look and feel, which was ultimately picked up by over 120 stores. It was a rewarding experience to see my work have such a widespread impact and I’m proud to have contributed to the success of such a well-known grocery chain.
